The program goal is to enhance the development of philanthropy in emerging market countries. To this end, Alliance Publishing Trust will organize a two-day seminar in London in early 2012 to honor Olga Alexeeva's significant contributions to the field of philanthropy globally. The seminar will capture Olga Alexeeva's experience and ideas and ensure that her important work to develop philanthropy in emerging market countries is continued. The grantee will broadly disseminate the findings from the seminar through the publication of a toolkit. Seminar participants will include people who worked closely with Olga Alexeeva over the years as well as others working in this field. Alliance Publishing Trust is a registered U.K. charity that aims to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas among philanthropists, social investors, and others working for social change worldwide.
The European Foundation Centre is an independent membership association of foundations and corporate funders dedicated to promoting organized philanthropy in Europe and internationally. In 2012, the European Foundation Centre carried out a wide range of activities including further developing the European Foundation House, which is scheduled to be completed in late 2013, and organizing an Annual General Assembly and Conference in Belfast in June and an Autumn Assembly in Brussels in November. In 2013, the European Foundation Centre will continue to focus on (1) raising the collective voice of the European philanthropic sector, (2) creating an enabling environment for independent funders, (3) encouraging the professionalization of foundation staff and boards, and (4) increasing the visibility of European foundations. Established in 1989 by seven of Europe's leading foundations, the European Foundation Centre today serves a core membership of over 200 members.
The program goal is to further the development of community foundations in Russia. Through this program, the Charities Aid Foundation will award small grants for start-up and consolidation of new community foundations as well as targeted grants to strengthen regional alliances and identify meaningful models for effecting social change. With this increase, the grantee will commission a detailed study on the state of community foundations in Russia. The study will consolidate much of the quantitative data gathered by the grantee in Russia over its many years of support to community foundations in Russia. At the same time, it will examine field-level qualitative issues related to the local, regional, and national impacts of community foundation work.
