Grant Period: 1/1/2010 to 12/31/2012

Geographic Focus: United States: United States (At Large)

The Center for Civil Society Studies at Johns Hopkins University has created a method to disclose federal data on nonprofit employment collected through the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, a data source operated by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In cooperation with the bureau, the center will develop a robust database on nonprofit employment by state and county going back 20 years, analyze this data, and create a public use access point for it. The center plans to produce a series of reports and a major book presenting this data and analyzing the dynamics it reveals, as well as establish an on-line database that researchers, state nonprofit associations, funders, and other stakeholders can use. Johns Hopkins University is one of America's premier research universities. The Center for Civil Society Studies seeks to improve understanding and the effective functioning of not-for-profit, philanthropic, or civil society organizations.
