The Constitutional Court Trust was established in 1995, and its objective is to promote the rule of law, constitutionalism, and judicial independence in the African region. This grant will support the Audible Legacy project, whose aim is to capture the memories and experiences of the judges of South Africa's first Constitutional Court. It will also capture the memories of their successors and others who were active during the formative years of the Court while these memories are still relatively fresh. These records will be supplemented with materials from television and radio broadcasting archives, and collated into an oral history of the Court, covering the period from inception to the end of the first period of the Court's existence. The collection will be housed in the Constitutional Court Library for immediate access via its digital catalogue and possible remote access once available. The materials will be made available to scholars and the general public at no cost.
