Grantmakers for Effective Organizations

Grantmakers for Effective Organizations is an association of more than 380 grantmaking organizations committed to building strong and effective nonprofit organizations. The grantee helps grantmakers improve practices in areas which have been identified by innovators in the field as critical to nonprofit success. It carries out this work through a variety of products and services, including conferences, peer learning opportunities, publications, action learning, an online resource library, newsletters, and networking opportunities. Its objectives are to promote innovation, raise awareness, build knowledge, and support change leading to improved grantmaker effectiveness. Last year, the grantee continued to support grantmakers with multiple peer-to-peer learning opportunities, including two topical conferences, more than a dozen skill-building workshops, and two new publications on the emerging topics of empathy and networks. It will explore the following content areas in 2012 and beyond: capacity building, cofunding, learning for improvement, working with intermediaries, and stakeholder engagement.
