This grant increase will allow the Afterschool Alliance to coordinate an AmeriCorps VISTA initiative to support the statewide afterschool networks. Through placing VISTA members in states to collaborate with statewide afterschool networks and/or citywide programs, this effort will: 1) build additional support for afterschool programs at the federal, state, and local levels; 2) strengthen state afterschool systems; 3) increase the use of the afterschool meals program by the states; and 4) support the overall network goals and sustainability.
