This grant increase will continue to support the Council of Chief State School Officers to build state capacity to implement high quality afterschool and expanded learning opportunities. The grantee will expand work with seven states to focus on eliminating barriers to student participation in expanded learning opportunities that award credit, and provide more seamless partnership and integration between traditional education and the afterschool community. In addition, the grantee will continue to: 1) provide technical assistance to the statewide afterschool networks as part of the Afterschool Technical Assistance Collaborative; 2) partner with the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices and the National Conference of State Legislatures to engage teams of state legislators, education chiefs, governors' policy advisors, and statewide afterschool network leaders to further statewide afterschool policies; and 3) share resources to support states in their implementation efforts.
