This grant will support the YWCA of Seattle-King County-Snohomish County, which coordinates the Washington Statewide Afterschool Network. The grantee seeks to advance high quality, expanded learning and afterschool programs as a key strategy to closing the achievement gap in Washington state. In addition to continuing the Washington Statewide Afterschool Network's core work to advance afterschool in Washington, the grantee will complete a multiyear project to: 1) develop and implement a state plan to better integrate afterschool programs with the state education system; and 2) design a comprehensive communications campaign to build public awareness around the needs and benefits of quality and diverse afterschool opportunities.
