A group of mayors and city managers helped establish the Michigan Suburbs Alliance in 2002 to unite communities in southeast Michigan through innovative, regional strategies and public policy reforms. As part of its mission to strengthen older communities, the grantee has sought to ensure that Michigan's transportation policies and initiatives maximize environmental, social, and economic benefits. With previous Mott support, the grantee provided technical assistance and training to municipal staff and community groups engaging in transportation decisions. With renewed support, the grantee will continue this work with a particular focus on improving and implementing transportation plans in southeast Michigan.
