Amount: $70,000
Grant Period: 1/1/2012 to 12/31/2013
Program: Civil Society
Program Area: Central/Eastern Europe and Russia
Geographic Focus: Serbia and Montenegro: Kosovo

The project goal is to support the Centre for Research, Documentation and Publication to develop its organizational and programmatic capacities for work on justice and reconciliation in Kosovo and the wider region over the long term. Formally registered as a nonprofit organization in Kosovo in February 2010, the grantee's mission is to gather documentation, conduct research, disseminate information and analysis, and raise public awareness about the legacies of conflict and human rights abuses in Kosovo. During 2010-2011, the grantee provided leadership in Kosovo in a campaign to launch a regional victims' commission; consulted widely with civil society, victims' associations, and government on strategies for transitional justice in Kosovo; and planned longer-term programmatic strategies for the grantee. During the grant period, the grantee will carry out a series of workshops with civil society actors and government agencies and officials to build consensus about transitional justice strategies in Kosovo. Mott funds will also be used during the grant period to support the grantee's organizational development and administrative costs, allowing it to continue to fundraise, build partnerships, and disseminate information about transitional justice. The grantee is based in Pristina.
