Change4ever Campaign

Southern Africa Trust

Amount: $25,000
Grant Period: 10/1/2012 to 9/30/2013
Program: Civil Society
Program Area: South Africa
Geographic Focus: Africa (At Large)

The Southern Africa Trust was founded in 2005 to support civil society organizations in southern Africa to participate effectively and with credibility in policy dialogue. Based in South Africa, the grantee supports civil society organizations that promote public policy dialogue on poverty issues. The Change4ever Campaign, a project of the Southern Africa Trust, was launched in 2007 to raise awareness about the levels of poverty in the region. It does this by exposing the public to the daily challenges faced by communities living in poverty. The campaign makes collective giving for lasting change interesting to a new generation of givers. This grant will support the Southern Africa Trust to build public awareness and appreciation of the role that civil society can play in the fight against poverty through the Change4ever Campaign. It will also provide platforms for ordinary people to give to causes that promote poverty alleviation. The campaign will be piloted in South Africa, and if successful, it will be expanded throughout southern Africa.
