Established in 1981, Disability Advocates of Kent County provides a full array of services throughout Kent County, with a population of 600,000. As its mission, the grantee advocates and facilitates action by persons with disabilities and the community to achieve equal access for all, including transportation options and services. This grant will support the grantee's work to deepen and expand civic engagement in the community related to transportation decisions, as well as to help link learning and sharing of best practices among other transportation corridor planning efforts in the state. This will include: 1) undertaking a range of activities, from listening sessions to social media, which engage a diverse constituency; 2) coordinating in-person gatherings, electronic sharing, and other efforts that support networking and peer-to-peer learning; and 3) disseminating information and tools statewide to elevate best practices.
