The YWCA of Greater Flint has been serving the Flint and Genesee County communities for 100 years with a mission of empowering women and eliminating racism. This grant will provide partial support for the Nina's Place program, which provides safe, long-term shelter to young women who were formerly in foster care and are homeless and without family support. Nina's Place offers 24-hour access to a secure shelter facility with trained staff on site at all times, as well as access to educational and employment resources, and structure and support to begin to achieve goals, complete daily activities, and cope with the emotional repercussions of past traumas.
