The project goal is to bring about sustainable change in local communities across Europe through innovative approaches to youth empowerment and community development. To this end, the grantee operates a resource center that supports local communities to implement youth empowerment approaches; facilitates networking and learning opportunities for young people, practitioners, and policymakers; documents and assesses good practices in the field; and disseminates data and analysis related to youth empowerment. The Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme was a collaborative initiative of several European and U.S. foundations, the grantee, and the Network of European Foundations from 2001 to 2011. In 2012, a new phase, designed to deepen and expand the work, was launched by the grantee. Building on the program's successes to date, the grantee will work with the existing 15 local sites involved in the project and develop innovative approaches to working in a wider range of communities. A particular focus in 2013 will be given to entrepreneurship training for youth in communities with fewer opportunities. The resource center has a staff of three people, and strategic guidance is provided by a steering committee made up of stakeholders in the project, including young people. The grantee is based in Berlin, Germany.
