This program area responds to unique opportunities related to the development of civil society internationally.
Grantmaking seeks to strengthen the nonprofit sector and philanthropy in select countries and internationally. Programming focuses on two areas -- community foundations and international exchange of experience within the nonprofit and philanthropic sector, with special emphasis on membership associations.
Funding priorities for Nonprofit Sector and Philanthropy
We seek a vibrant and independent nonprofit and philanthropic sector in select countries and internationally. We are making grants:
- for cross-border and cross-cultural exchange of community foundation experience and practice, with the aim of building the field globally;
- to national-level grantmaker support organizations in select countries that show particularly strong potential for community foundation development; and
- for select regional- or global-level efforts, especially membership associations, that promote the international sharing of experience, build information about the nonprofit sector and philanthropy, and advocate for an enabling environment for nonprofit organizations.
