About this grant

The program goal is to strengthen the leadership skills of Russia’s emerging political, civic, and business leaders. Through its four program areas — seminars, publications, a Web site, and an alumni association — the Moscow School of Political Studies will provide a unique forum for dialogue for young Russian leaders. The school will continue to target leaders at the local and regional levels, with over 20 regional workshops and seminars planned. An ongoing program of national and international workshops will also provide these regional leaders with more contacts and exposure. In 2011-2012, over 30 regional and federal seminars were conducted, involving over 3,000 participants. Alumni of the programs developed over 70 local and regional initiatives aimed at furthering the school’s democratic ethos, while semiformal alumni structures developed in 11 regions. Established in 1992 and based in Moscow, the school works toward the building of an open, democratic society in Russia based on the rule of law, strict observance of human rights, and the encouragement of civic initiative.
