Project explores the BEST ways to strengthen nonprofits

A video conversation with Jennifer Acree, director of the Mott-funded Building Excellence, Sustainability and Trust (BEST) Project.

The BEST (Building Excellence, Sustainability and Trust) Project was created in 2003 to build the capacity of agencies in Genesee County, Michigan to meet the ever-increasing needs of clients and the challenges of a poor local economy. Since then, more than 35 nonprofit organizations have participated in the project. With support from four area funders, including the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, BEST provides opportunities for organizational learning and professional growth and development to participating agencies through a two-phase process -- organization assessment and capacity building. In this video interview, Jennifer Acree, director of the BEST Project, discusses how customized and timely technical assistance can be used to strengthen a community’s nonprofit infrastructure.
