C.S. Mott: Autos not Apples
This short video clip was part of an hour-long interview with Charles Stewart Mott in 1972, when he was 97 years of age. It was filmed at Applewood, Mott's home in Flint, Michigan. In the interview, Mr. Mott talks about his early years in Flint, where his axel company became part of the General Motors Corporation; the origins of the Mott Foundation; the role of Frank Manley in shaping the Foundation's grantmaking; and his vision and hope for the foundation and its programs. The interview was conducted by Richard P. Scharchburg, a nationally known automotive historian who was a faculty member at Flint's Kettering University for more than 36 years.
