Mott Foundation grant keeps afterschool program alive
Genesee County's nationally recognized afterschool program, Bridges to the Future, will continue operations through the end of the school year with the help of a $1.275-million grant to the United Way of Genesee County from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
The Bridges to the Future program provides countywide afterschool programming at 117 schools in 21 school districts for 10,000 kindergarten through ninth-grade students. In October, the program was selected as the nation’s most outstanding afterschool program by the National Community Education Association, winning the honor over 20 to 25 other programs around the country.
