Mott Foundation adds new investment staff


FLINT, Mich. -- Cheryl Garneau has joined the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation as an Investment Manager at its investment office in Troy.

Before coming to Mott, Garneau was responsible for public equity investments at the University of Michigan’s investment office in Ann Arbor. She also worked for more than a decade in the areas of pension investing and administration for Chrysler LLC and for two years for Deloitte & Touche LLP, both in the Detroit area. She lives in Rochester Hills.

“We are delighted to add someone with Cheryl Garneau’s range of experience to our investment team,” said Michael J. Smith, Mott’s Vice President – Investments and Chief Investment Officer.

Garneau holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in business administration from Wayne State University. She is a chartered financial analyst, a certified public accountant and a member of the State Bar of Michigan. 

The Mott Foundation, established in 1926 by an automotive pioneer, is a private philanthropy committed to supporting projects that promote a just, equitable and sustainable society. It supports nonprofit programs throughout the U.S. and, on a limited geographic basis, internationally. Grantmaking is focused in four programs: Civil Society, Environment, Flint Area and Pathways Out of Poverty.
