New Vice President Appointed by Mott Foundation
FLINT, Michigan – Ridgway H. White has been promoted to Vice President of Special Projects at the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, a new position that will allow him to continue his current work focused on urban planning and revitalization in Flint and the metro region as well as assist the executive office in various capacities.
White, who joined the Foundation in 2004 as a program assistant on the Flint Area grantmaking team, was named an associate program officer in 2006 and was promoted to program officer in 2009. In that capacity, he also served as a loaned executive to the nonprofit Uptown Reinvestment Corporation (URC), where he coordinated a redevelopment strategy designed to revitalize downtown Flint, the Foundation’s home community.

In his new position, White will continue to work with the Foundation’s Flint grantmaking team and to assist the URC.
“The Foundation has a long-standing interest in building a solid urban base to anchor the area’s economic recovery and growth. Ridgway’s efforts to collaborate with private and public partners to revitalize the central city with restaurants, retail and even housing have made a significant contribution to the new vitality we see emerging,” said Foundation President and CEO William S. White. “This promotion is another example of Mott’s commitment to this work and the community that meant so much to our founder.”
After graduating from Hobart College in Geneva, New York, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in architectural design and urban studies, he worked as an intern for the Foundation’s Pathways Out of Poverty program.
White, the great-grandson of Mott Foundation founder Charles Stewart Mott, resides with his wife, Shannon, in the Flint area.
