Kettering University is the only fully cooperative engineering and management university in the United States. Undergraduate programs are available in mechanical, electrical, computer, industrial and manufacturing systems engineering, and in applied mathematics, environmental chemistry, computer science, applied physics and management systems. Each of these programs combines academic studies with practical experience in the workplace. The mechanical engineering program has been housed in the same building since 1926. Similarly, the chemistry labs have not had a major upgrade in more than 20 years. A new, modern facility for mechanical engineering and chemistry programs is needed in order for Kettering to adapt to changing technologies; provide for its expanding graduate-level programs in engineering; and remain a world-class engineering university.//Multiyear funding will support a fundraising campaign to complete the first and second phases of a three-phase plan including development of a building donated by General Motors. Major enhancements will include a new heating/ventilation/air conditioning system, building refacing, adding a third floor, and providing new lab and office space for the departments of mechanical engineering and chemistry.
