The Bretton Woods Project, established in 1995, works with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), researchers and public officials to monitor and improve the activities of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Multiyear funding will enable the project to provide information and advice to groups in the United Kingdom and other countries to promote international financial institution reform. Activities will include providing reports and briefings on key World Bank and IMF initiatives; updating Web site; conducting regular meetings with UK decisionmakers; hosting briefings for parliamentarians; providing international advocacy coordination; improving network communications; and evaluating the project.
During the past two years, activities included producing the Bretton Woods Update and other reports; making presentations on World Bank and IMF reform to senior policymakers from NGOs and bilateral and multilateral aid organizations; encouraging independence of the IMF independent evaluation office; and strategizing about opportunities and areas of concern.
