In April 2005, the Lake Michigan Federation changed its name to the Alliance for the Great Lakes. This grant increase and one-year extension will enable the alliance to conduct a strategic planning process to determine its future direction. During this transition, the alliance will maintain its existing programs, including extensive public outreach around the issues of water withdrawal and diversion, ecosystem restoration, and aquatic invasive species.
