The Bretton Woods Project of ActionAid has been a key actor on international financial institution reform issues since it was established in 1995. It works with non-governmental organizations, researchers, and officials to scrutinize and reform policies and practices of international financial institutions, particularly the World Bank. During the grant period, the Bretton Woods Project will continue in its multiple roles as a clearinghouse for information and research; an advisor to non-governmental organization networks working on reform of international financial institutions based in the United Kingdom, other European countries and developing countries; a catalyst for strategy development and policy discussions; an interlocutor between non-governmental organizations and British government officials; and a source for information on international financial institutions and their policies and practices for the media.
