This project will enable the American Association of Community Colleges to create and pilot the Center for Workforce and Economic Development. The goal of the center is to improve the economic prosperity of businesses, workers and communities by making best practices common practice throughout the community college network in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. To this end, the center will bring together community colleges with workforce boards, economic development entities, labor-market intermediaries and other community organizations.
The association, founded in 1920, speaks for and represents the interests of the nation's accredited two-year colleges and their 11.6 million students. Its mission is to "build a nation of learners by advancing America's community colleges."
