This grant will continue to support the Collaborative Communications Group in its efforts supporting the National Network of Statewide Afterschool Networks. Currently, the Foundation is providing partial support to 38 statewide networks, with an additional three to five expected to join in the future. This project will foster cooperation and collaboration in states across the country and create opportunities for sharing strategies and challenges for furthering statewide policies that support the quality and sustainability of afterschool programs. Specifically, this grant will support the grantee to convene meetings and audio conference calls, maintain a Web site and a listserv, develop resources and tools, and document learning. The Collaborative Communications Group will also assist the Mott-funded Afterschool Technical Assistance Collaborative in its efforts to provide technical assistance to the statewide afterschool networks. Additionally, in an effort to support specific needs of networks, specialized technical support will be available for select issues such as engaging business leaders, incorporating global literacy, or partnering with early educators.
