This grant will provide operating support to the Flint Cultural Center Corporation. The corporation operates Whiting Auditorium, Sloan Museum, and Longway Planetarium, and oversees the 30-acre Flint Cultural Center campus. Approximately 230,000 children and adults attended or participated in various cultural, educational, and instructional programs and activities at these cultural center organizations during the past year. Like other cultural organizations around the country, revenues are declining; however, with this support, the corporation will be able to maintain the quality, number, and breadth of programs and activities available at the cultural center. Activities available on the campus will include live performances by touring professionals, history displays, hands-on learning experiences, laser shows, school group activities, and community events.
