This grant will provide operating support to the Flint Institute of Arts. Since reopening in September 2006 after a significant renovation and expansion, the museum has generated new excitement in the arts community and new audiences have been drawn to the institute. Attendance continues to grow, topping last year's record high of 120,000 visits. Adults and students are not just drawn to the museum to view its collection and special exhibitions, but to take a variety of classes at the art school, participate in numerous education programs, and attend special events held at the facility. Despite shrinking budgets, the Flint Institute of Arts will continue to offer diverse exhibitions and programs that inspire, educate, and engage members as well as new audiences.
