The Flint Club began in 2001 as an organization representing people who have left the city of Flint to pursue education or careers, but to whom the city remains a source of pride and interest. In 2006, the Flint Club expanded beyond its virtual community model to include local programming and an office in Flint. In 2008, over 1,100 people participated in a variety of activities of the Riverbank Park Festival Series held in Downtown Flint. The Flint Club remains focused on connecting local activities to national perspectives and resources, and on empowering people to enrich the sense of pride and quality of life in Flint, regardless of where they live.
