This grant will provide support for a partnership between the Alliance of Religions and Conservation and the United Nations. Under the leadership of the Secretary-General, the United Nations has established a formal partnership with world faith groups to address issues of the environment and climate change. Bahai, Buddhist, Christian, Daoist, Muslim, Jewish, and Shinto faiths are engaged and creating long-term action plans, offering practical models of constructive engagement on the subjects of assets, education, pastoral care, lifestyles, media and advocacy, partnerships and eco-twinning, and celebration. On November 4, 2009, in association with both the BBC World Service and Google, faith communities around the world will announce their seven-year plans. A series of films highlighting aspects of the seven key areas will be shown during the 24-hour launch event. A major conference will also take place at Windsor Castle or St. Paul's Cathedral in London.
