The Alliance for the Great Lakes, founded in 1970 as the Lake Michigan Federation, seeks to conserve and restore the Great Lakes freshwater ecosystem through policy reform, public education, and local conservation projects. With previous Mott support, the alliance engaged in policy discussions regarding the Great Lakes Compact and the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, delivered public education and outreach programs, and implemented organizational development strategies. With this renewal, the alliance will continue these efforts while strengthening programs to address water pollution and invasive species in the Great Lakes.
