The program goal is to promote regional cooperation among journalists that results in more accurate and objective analyses of political, social, and economic developments in the Balkan region. The grantee, the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, is the regional coordination center for a network that includes six other media organizations across the Balkans. The grantee and other network members work together to regularly analyze key transition issues for the public and policymakers, publish weekly reports, and organize training events and public debates. During the past two years, the grantee published over 110 issues of "Balkan Insight" with more than 700 articles and 14 in-depth investigative reports on important regional issues, and it trained local journalists and provided fellowships to 30 young journalists from the region. The grantee is based in Sarajevo, and the network includes member organizations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, and Serbia.
