Kosova Women's Network

The program goal is to strengthen women's participation in community development initiatives and in local- and national-level decisionmaking. To this end, this grant supports the organizational and programmatic development of the Kosova Women's Network, a network of Kosovar women's nongovernmental organizations. The network supports its members through advocacy, networking activities, capacity-building opportunities, and joint campaigns. With 88 member organizations from all of Kosovo's ethnic communities, in 2008-2009, the network raised public awareness about the need for public financing of women's shelters and women's participation in political life, conducted research to inform relevant public policy debates, and provided development and technical assistance to network members. During the grant period, the network will focus on empowering women to participate in politics and decisionmaking processes, promoting compliance with a code of conduct for members, and increasing cooperation between Albanian and Serb women's organizations.
