This grant will provide support for a Three-Year Evaluation of the YouthQuest Afterschool Initiative. In 2009-10, the program began implementation of a new strategic plan focused on positive outcomes in learning and development for high need students. This evaluation will allow for continuous program improvement by providing timely feedback on program implementation, quality, and effectiveness. School principals, site coordinators,
and students will complete annual surveys, and annual observations will take place at ten sites. Annual reports will compare implementation results with findings from evaluations of similar afterschool initiatives in other communities. Policy Studies Associates, Inc., located in Washington, D.C., has conducted major evaluations of afterschool programs in Boston,
New Jersey, New York City, and other locations across the country.
