Heartefact Fund

The project goal is to build the organizational and programmatic capacities of the Heartefact Fund during its first years of operation. Established in July 2009, the fund will make grants; provide technical assistance; convene artists, filmmakers, theater directors, and others; and directly engage in the development and production of film and theater projects. All of the grantee's activities will be designed to promote creative approaches to confronting the nationalism and ethnic mistrust that characterizes the region and raise awareness of the importance of human rights protection. In this way, the grantee will be linked to existing transitional justice initiatives in the region, working on these issues in new ways. Grant funds will be used to cover core operating expenses; provide training to staff, board, and other stakeholders; and network with beneficiaries and partners.
