This renewal grant will focus on improving the jobs of the direct-care workforce in Michigan. The grantee will inform public policymakers in Michigan of direct-care workforce issues through distribution of its revised Michigan Direct-Care Workforce Fact Sheet and other state and national research and data. PHI will also expand its work to help direct-care workers achieve economic self-sufficiency through a targeted income enhancement initiative, will work as part of a consumer coalition to assist state policymakers with implementation of the Affordable Care Act helping to ensure that it provides the best possible benefits for this workforce, and will pursue long-term care training initiatives in Michigan with a particular focus on playing a strong role in the state's Personal and Home Care Aide State Training Program.
