About

Formerly the director of Flint’s BEST Project, which provided technical assistance and capacity-building skills for Flint-area charitable organizations, Jennifer Acree amassed considerable knowledge about the area’s nonprofit sector before joining Mott in 2013. A Michigan native who grew up in Vermont, she is a graduate of New York’s Syracuse University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in international relations. She returned to her native state to earn a master’s in social work with a concentration on nonprofit management and organizational development from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Like many Foundation staff, Acree has worked in several fields, including higher education and the nonprofit sector. A special affinity for art, culture and the positive impacts they can have in communities is illustrated by her extensive volunteer and board member experience with related organizations.

Acree is the proud parent of a young son who shares her love for the visual and performing arts, and who can often be found drawing a pirate ship or dancing to “rock and roll” music.
