About
A native of Mott’s hometown of Flint, Matt Bach is a lifelong communicator with a career spanning over 30 years in newspaper reporting and communications for nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining Mott to serve as communications officer working with the Education team, Bach worked with the Michigan Municipal League since 2009, most recently serving as assistant director of communications and media.
He earlier served in a variety of roles for nearly a dozen years at The Flint Journal, including as a reporter covering education, Flint schools, local government and business, and subsequently as part of the newspaper’s Internet team. Between his long stints at The Flint Journal and MML, he briefly served as public relations and social media manager for the Flint Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Bach is a proud product of public schools and community education. He graduated from Grand Blanc Community High School and went on to study journalism at Central Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.
He and his wife, Katie, starred in an episode of HGTV’s House Hunters titled “Investing in Flint.” It documented their 2019 home-buying journey, which resulted in their moving from Grand Blanc to the city of Flint.
In their spare time, they enjoy traveling, swimming in their pool, binge-watching various TV shows and movies, spending time with their two children and two grandchildren, and hanging out with their adorable little dogs, Chester and Chewy.
