Michael S. Birchmeier
Director of Grants Administration
A certified public accountant, Mike Birchmeier joined the staff of the Mott Foundation in 2014. As director of Grants Administration, he is responsible for supervising grant processing and compliance in accordance with the approved policies of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Birchmeier also is working with a cross-team software committee to streamline and improve grants processing and outcome reporting. He’s a native and long-time resident of mid-Michigan, although he spent two years with his family in Korea when he was in early elementary school, an experience he thoroughly enjoyed. Birchmeier joined the U.S. Army out of high school, serving four years of active duty in its Psychological Operations unit. A Michigan State University graduate, he received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s in Accounting with an emphasis on taxation. He was an auditor for two regional CPA firms before taking the job with Mott. Married with two young children, his life outside work revolves mainly around family activities.
