Sarah Mather

As the accounting manager, Sarah Mather collaborates with a variety of teams at Mott to facilitate day-to-day accounting operations. She also assists the Controller with the year-end audit and tax compliance. Born in Flint, Mather is a certified public accountant who holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from the University of Michigan-Flint, as well as a master’s degree in taxation from Wayne State University. Before joining Mott, Mather worked for accounting firms and several nonprofits in southeast Michigan. She provided compliance and asset stewardship for the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, the Gilbert Family Foundation and The Skillman Foundation. She also serves as a volunteer member of the finance committee at the Albert Kahn Legacy Foundation in Detroit.

“It’s rewarding to work toward progress on issues relevant to our times,” Mather said. “Working in the nonprofit space gives you a chance to help make the changes you want to see in the world.”

In her free time, Mather enjoys volunteering, reading, traveling and trying new things by taking classes.

“I have many hobbies,” she said, “but I’m not great at any of them.”
