About this grant
The International Programs office of the Council on Foundations (COF) provides services that help foundations conduct international grantmaking, connects the council to international philanthropic organizations, facilitates the development of global philanthropic networks, and studies the interconnection between local and global issues.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include establishing principles of accountability and effectiveness for the international grantmaking field; providing ongoing services to the growing number of members making international grants; and strengthening the global philanthropic infrastructure while increasing opportunities for learning.Recent accomplishments included expanding the U.S. International Grantmaking Information Service; publishing “Making a Difference in Africa: Advice from Experienced Grantmakers”; disseminating research on international grantmaking trends; helping to introduce the community foundation concept to the World Bank; providing technical assistance to members; and sharing information on issues, trends and best practices in international grantmaking at major COF conferences.
