About this grant
This grant will enable the Aspen Institute to continue research on community foundations through its Nonprofit Sector Research Fund (NSRF). Since 2001, NSRF’s goal has been to expand knowledge about the nonprofit sector and philanthropy; inform policy and practice; and increase research in the field. Multiyear funding will support continued exploration of community foundation issues and dissemination of new information to practitioners and policymakers. Possible issues include nonfinancial measures of community foundation performance; innovative practices by community foundations; the public policy and regulatory agenda for community foundations; and the future of community foundations. In 2003, NSRF awarded $225,000 in community foundation research grants to the Urban Institute, Ohio University and BoardSource, and the Council of Michigan Foundations. Findings will be disseminated in 2005, with preliminary material presented at several annual conferences throughout the year.
