About this grant
This grant continues support for the scholarly work pursued by the Aspen Institute’s Nonprofit Sector Research Fund. The fund awards research grants and organizes convenings to expand knowledge of the nonprofit sector and philanthropy, improve nonprofit practices, and inform public policy related to nonprofits. In past years, Mott support was targeted at community foundation research. Most recently, research was focused on nonfinancial measures of community foundation performance. During the current grant period, Mott funds will be focused on nonprofit databases. The fund will facilitate a series of meetings, which will bring together nonprofit database organization leaders, nonprofit scholars, and key practitioners to develop and implement a work plan for strengthening nonprofit databases. These meetings will identify the highest priority challenges facing nonprofit databases, which will then be the subject of follow-up research and convening.
