About this grant
Created in 1980, the Michigan Environmental Council has developed into a strong membership-based organization of more than 70 groups dedicated to informing policies and practices that help ensure protection of the environment and public health. As part of its land use and growth management work, the council has become actively engaged in transportation issues at both the state and national levels. This grant will support the council’s work to align transportation-related decisions in Michigan with emerging opportunities at the federal level; build broad support for a state transportation agenda that calls for increased investments in public transportation and nonmotorized options; and promote connections between transportation and other prominent public concerns, such as urban revitalization.
