About this grant
Direct Action and Research Training Center (DART) is a network of congregation-based community organizations in Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Virginia. DART’s Capacity Building Project works to strengthen the network’s services by expanding leadership training; enhancing the supervision of local organizers; augmenting the organizer internship program to train the next generation of community organizers; creating new organizing opportunities; and providing consulting services to newer organizations.Multiyear funding will enable DART to continue providing core training and building its network capacity. Goals include increasing participation at all major events; expanding staff; building at least four new sponsoring committees and adding Georgia; strengthening the Michigan-Ohio regional federation; and sharing lessons learned across the network.During the past three years, achievements included expanding leadership training; developing a system for supervising local organizers; launching the Organizers’ Institute to identify, recruit, train and place new organizers; and assisting organizations.
