About this grant
BoardnetUSA, developed and maintained by Volunteer Consulting Group, is an interactive Internet site that provides board placement and other services to nonprofits. By identifying new leaders and connecting them with nonprofits, BoardnetUSA fosters a more open and democratic way for nonprofits to fill their governance needs across boundaries of race, skills and geography.Multiyear funding will support efforts to strengthen the overall growth of BoardnetUSA through online enhancements and increased collaborations; complete a toolkit for candidate sponsoring organizations; expand the number of boards available to companies in communities where their employees live and work; maintain, develop and enhance the Web site; and introduce a variety of online products such as board position announcements, e-mail notifications and links to corporate intranet sites that encourage board service by employees.Recent accomplishments included expanding community partnerships in Massachusetts, Texas and Washington, D.C., and with United Way affiliates; acquiring a new source for recruiting board members; increasing the capacity of the Internet site; implementing a new marketing and communication plan; and profiling more than 6,000 candidates for board positions.
