About this grant
This grant supports an affinity group of the European Foundation Centre to improve the effectiveness of grantmaking in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union and to encourage new donor activity in the region. To this end, in 2012 and 2013, the grantee will organize the annual meeting of the group, called the Grantmakers East Forum, for interested grantmakers and donors working in this region. In 2012, the meeting will take place in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. The grantee will work with the forum’s steering committee to further develop the format of the annual meetings, secure outside speakers, arrange the venue and other logistics, and disseminate the meetings’ reports. In 2010, the grantee organized the forum’s annual meeting in Tbilisi, Georgia, and in 2011, it took place in Riga, Latvia. As in previous years, these annual meetings attracted more than 150 participants and provided opportunities for networking and information exchange, encouraged development of new philanthropic initiatives, and promoted good grantmaking practices. Based in Brussels, Belgium, the European Foundation Centre is an international association of foundations and corporate funders dedicated to strengthening European philanthropy.
