About this grant
This grant supports an affinity group of the European Foundation Centre to improve the effectiveness of grantmaking in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union and to encourage new donor activity in the region. In 2014 and 2015, the grantee will organize the annual meeting of the group known as Grantmakers East Group, for interested grantmakers and donors working in this region. In 2014, the meeting will take place in Palermo, Italy, and will focus on the theme of migration and mobility. The grantee will work with the group’s steering committee to further develop the format of the annual meetings, secure outside speakers, arrange the venue and other logistics, and disseminate the meetings’ reports. In 2013, the grantee organized the group’s annual meeting in Belgrade, Serbia, and in 2012 it took place in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. These annual meetings attracted more than 150 participants and provided opportunities for networking and information exchange, encouraged development of new philanthropic initiatives, and promoted good grantmaking practices. Based in Brussels, Belgium, the European Foundation Centre is an international association of foundations and corporate funders dedicated to strengthening European philanthropy.
