About this grant
Freshwater Future supports citizen groups working locally to protect and improve aquatic habitats throughout the Great Lakes Basin. With Mott support over 16 years, the grantee provided $1.5 million to these groups in the form of small grants, technical support, and capacity building assistance. A portion of this funding helped local groups address unanticipated, high priority issues, such as the 2010 oil spill in Michigan’s Kalamazoo River. With this renewal, the grantee will continue offering the full array of its technical assistance and capacity building services while connecting its constituents to key Great Lakes policy reform efforts. Freshwater Future will also strengthen its own internal capacity.
