About this grant
The International Financial Flows and the Environment project of the World Resources Institute provides important research and data to nongovernmental organizations and key public and private institutions on international financial flows and public policy options. The overarching goal of the project is to improve the social and environmental performance of public and private international financial institutions by holding them accountable to their investors and to the communities in which they invest. During the last grant period, the grantee took a leadership role in mainstreaming climate change into the operations of international financial institutions, improving the quality of their support for sustainable energy investments in developing countries, and ensuring that future climate finance mechanisms are strengthened by lessons from previous experience. During the current period, the project will continue its work to encourage shifts in international financial support for investments that meet high environmental and social standards and that are low-carbon and climate resilient, as well as identify and pursue opportunities to strengthen the environmental and social standards of emerging actors in development finance.
